FAQ
Tennant Podiatry have compiled answers to some of the most common questions we hear from our patients.
Which different conditions do you treat?
We can treat a number of conditions related to the feet including verrucas, ingrowing toenails, tendinopathies, heel pain, plantar fasciitis, fungal nail, arthritis.
Do you treat children?
Yes, we are able to treat children but we would advise waiting until children are of an age where treatment is appropriate. There will be some discomfort and their skin doesn't have the same resillience as adults, so we find Verrutop is very effective.
How much does treatment cost?
Treatment prices are dependent on the service you recieve, and can vary enormously. If you require specialist equipment or medicines or if local anaesthesia is required, treatment will be more expensive. If you're concerned about the cost of treatment, please contact our team who will answer any questions you may have.
What's the difference between a chiropodist, a podiatrist and a foot health practitioner?
These terms are the same thing, but the modern term is Podiatry. This is a more accurate reflection of the scope of the practice.
Foot Health practitioners are not Podiatrists. Only Podiatrists are regulated by the HCPC and members of the Royal College of Podiatry with a BSc Hons in Podiatry. You can check if someone is registered and insured throuhg the royal college of podiatry and HCPC.
What conditions do Podiatrists treat?
Podiatry is the specialised treatment of the feet and ankles. As a practice we specialise in biomechanics, 3D printed bespoke CAD CAM design orthotics, treatment of fungal nails, verrucas and ingrowing toenails.
If a surgical solution is required, we are able to refer you to a Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No you do not need a Doctor's referral to receive treatment from The Bell Practice.
Do you do home visits?
We are able to visit you in the comfort of your own home. This service costs an additional £70.
This is because we have to pay our clinician for the travelling podiatrist and use special equipment that is fully sterile. Our clinicians also have an Advanced DBS certificate will cover their own parking fees and use specialist portable equipment they can carry to the patients home.
Are the treatments painful?
Podiatry should always be as pain free as possible, this is a coer belief of ours. We can apply local anaesthetic if required and will always gain consent before applying treatment.
Can I claim on my medical insurance?
Not all treatments are covered by healthcare providers, but we are registered with many so it is always worth checking prior to your appointment. You will need to gain an authorisation number to assist us with billing, and make sure that you are covered.
Are you HCPC registered?
Every one of our clinicians are fully HCPC registered, insured, and members of the Royal College of Podiatry. We are likewise an Accredited Practice.
