Under One Roof

Your feet are very much the foundations of your body, just like a building. If they are out of alignment, weaknesses and faults can occur in the rest of your body. Heel, ankle, knee pain, Achilles tendonitis and forefoot pain can usually be treated with orthotics, or insoles.

How does it work?

Podiatric orthotics are custom-made insoles, worn inside the shoe to treat foot-related conditions as diverse as Plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, mortons neuroma, arthritis and bunions. The Bell Practice uses 3D printed orthotics, fully bespoke to your feet with a 3 year warranty on the orthotic shell.

We take a 3D scan of your foot and the orthotic is 3D printed. They are effective in treating associated back, hip, knee and foot pain. Orthotics adjust your foot posture and thus the way you walk to increase balance and comfort, along with assisting in redistributing pressure away from the problem area, for instance offloading a corn or painful knee joint.

FAQ

Tennant Podiatry have compiled answers to some of the most common questions we hear from our patients.

  • Does 3D orthotics work? Will it cure all my symptoms?

Orthotics improve how your feet function and work. As our feet are the foundation of our body correcting this (our biomechanics) will offload and reduce the stress on the area we are treating. We can not guarantee this will resolve your complaint but it should help and we can offer other treatments like laser, corticosteroid injections, ultrasound to assist. We would never offer orthotics unless we feel in our professional opinion that they have a significant chance of improving your symptoms.

  • What is an orthotic insole?

Orthotic insoles are bespoke inserts for shoes that alleviate pressure from the muscles and joints in your feet.

  • What do orthotics do?

Orthotics are designed to provide bespoke support to the arches of your feet. They remove strain from ligaments and muscles typically associated with flat feet.Describe the item or answer the question so that site visitors who are interested get more information. • How much are custom orthotics?

The cost of bespoke orthotic inserts will be discussed at your consultation appointment.

  • How are orthotics fitted?

Orthotics are fitted with 3D scanner technology that creates 3D printed orthotics uniquely tailored to the shape of your foot. You will usually be seen by a physiotherapist and specialist in musculoskeletal conditions who will assess the reason for your pain or discomfort so the orthotics can be more appropriately tailored to you.

  • Are orthotics bad for your feet?

No. Orthotics are designed to provide your feet with the correct support to heal and prevent pain caused by ligament and muscular inconsistencies. Long term use will have a positive impact on your foot, ankle and overall leg health.

  • Can you wear orthotic insoles during exercise?

Yes. It is recommended that you wear orthotic inserts during exercise to prevent damage to your feet caused by high impact activities. You can put them in walking and running shoes as necessary.
