About Us

Caring for Chorlton's Feet Since 1986

The Bell Practice has been part of the Chorlton community for almost 40 years.

We began in 1986 as a chiropody clinic and have grown into a multi-disciplinary health centre. Now we offer podiatry, osteopathy, acupuncture, reflexology, remedial massage and counselling all under one roof at our Barlow Moor Road practice.

Over almost four decades we've treated generations of the same families, building relationships over the years - so much so that many of our new patients come to us through personal recommendations.

We Are Specialists, Not Generalists

All the practitioners at The Bell Practice are experts in their own discipline, with nationally recognised qualifications and many years of experience.

Our podiatry team is fully registered by the HCPC - the regulatory body that oversees physiotherapists and nurses. They are all members of the Royal College of Podiatry too, so it’s easy to find them on the HCPC register or the Royal College of Podiatry's "Find a Podiatrist" directory.

It’s worth noting that all our podiatrists are Extended Scope Practitioners - also known as Clinical Specialist Podiatrists - a level of advanced practice that goes well beyond routine foot care.

So, just for clarity - a chiropodist and a podiatrist are the same thing - but a ‘foot health practitioner’ is neither, and is typically not regulated by the HCPC.

What We Treat

In the unlikely event we can't help you, we can refer you to a specialist who can. If we feel you need a surgical solution, we can refer you directly to a Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Beyond podiatry, the practice also offers osteopathy, acupuncture, reflexology, remedial massage, homeopathy, yoga and meditation, counselling and psychotherapy, and hearing care services.

We treat all foot and ankle conditions, specialising in:

Our Approach to Care

We combine in-depth analysis, innovative technology and expert clinical care, then back it up with the preventative advice that keeps problems from returning.

Treatment should be as pain-free as possible - and that's a core belief, not a marketing line. We use local anaesthetic where it's needed, and we always explain clearly and gain your consent before carrying out any treatment.

We're experienced with treating children too. Our clinicians treat children of all ages patiently and sympathetically, building confidence and trust at the child's pace. All hold Advanced DBS certificates.

You don't need a GP referral. Simply book directly with us.

When it comes to your foot health, you deserve a welcoming practice that makes care easy, comfortable and accessible every step of the way.

How to get here

We're perfectly placed between two of Manchester's main Metrolink stops.

If you’re driving, we're just a few minutes from Junction 5 of the M60 and easily reached from Old Trafford, Stretford, Stockport, Wythenshawe, Sale, Cheadle, Didsbury and Carrington. You can use one of our three parking spaces (subject to availability), but there’s plenty of street parking on nearby Beech Road. We even have a bike rack for cyclists.

When you arrive

We start looking after you the minute you get here. Our friendly reception team is here to greet you and make the whole experience as pleasant as possible.

Home podiatry visits

If you would find it difficult to come to us our clinicians can visit you at home. You can book an appointment over the phone. Please note that our home visits carry a higher fee because they cover the clinician's travel and parking, and the specialist fully sterile portable equipment they bring with them.

Private medical insurance

We work with many of the UK’s major providers. You'll need to call your insurer first for an authorisation number and confirmation that they're happy for the Bell Practice to deliver your care.

"After suffering for months and getting bad advice from other places I found the Bell Surgery to be incredibly professional and the aftercare to be brilliant. Highly recommended."
